Environmental Responsibility
The Lelos Group continually looks for new ways to minimise environmental impacts, with particular emphasis on the following areas:
a) Energy conservation
- Light tubes (photo)
Specifically, industrial-type Solarlight® - Lightway® light tubes-sun tubes have been installed at Vitafarm. By installing the light tubes-sun tubes, the company saves 100% of the electrical power it consumes for lighting throughout the day, even in cloudy conditions. This helps improve the quantity and quality of the lighting in all areas, creating a pleasant and comfortable environment..

- Replacement of lighting systems with new technology LED (Group)
All conventional lamps in the Group's warehouses and in the spaces at Vitafarm where light tubes could not be installed have been replaced with LED lamps. This helps save up to 95% on electricity consumption, as LED lamps are more efficient than conventional-type lamps and have a longer useful life. In addition, they are environmentally friendly since they emit zero infrared and ultraviolet radiation and they do not contain mercury, lead, cadmium or hexavalent chromium.

- Use of photovoltaic ventilation system
A system of Solarlight® photovoltaic ventilators has been installed at Vitafarm specifically. This system ensures that heat is expelled using solar energy which helps create and maintain the cool environment required for storing the perishable products we market.

b) Recycling
- a collection and disposal system for materials hazardous to the environment, such as batteries and others, is in place at all of the Group's companies
- specifically at Vitafarm, a fully automated system to collect, crush and bundle cardboard boxes before their disposal is in operation (photo)
